this is the lemans minitures bentley speed 8 from lemans 2003. this is what got voted for me to build for the acme 2010 group build.

there were a ton of things wrong with the kit. body warped, wing warped, wrong mirrors, only 2 headlights, some decals were missing. i think they were stoned out when they made this thing. theres more i could list.

Looks very good! Makes me think I should open mine up to see if it has the same maladies as yours. Did you use MCWs Bentley paint or did you mix something up yourself?

That's beautiful! Clearly, you overcame any challenges presented by the kit.

The kit '03 #7 I got seems to be fine. Only warped body (needs some hot water to correct) and very thin with airbubles as I broke a few parts allready and trew it back onto the shelve where it still is as today :runaround:

yes it was mcw special order bentley speed 8 green. he told me it was a different green from the regular bentley green or brittish racing green

Very nice job! from my experience of LMM kits I know how bad they can be, they don't make our hobby much fun especially when parts are missing.
Well done.

Kingkai - I am considering buying this model but can't make my mind up as to buy the closed or open door version.

Is the open door model static...or are the doors on the hinge giving me the option to open and close them as I wish?

Looks great in spite of the kits flaws!

The opendoors kit can be installed open or closed. The door hinges are part of the doors and the doors can fit in closed position or stand upright in open position. With this possible to have one open and one closed door. (maybe some more sanding is needed to level the door with the rest of the body) this built of this topic seems to be a closed version as the door lines seem like the panellines on the surface. The top hinges on the roof are small balls which fit nicely into an half circle like opening and you can even play the opening/closing part with the door (if I remember correctly, haven't had the model in my hands for years (its under a big to do pile hidden away  )
If the price is the same I would go for the open doors as it gives you more time to consider it. With easier preperation of the body you should go for the closed version. I want to built a pitstop version so I don't need to consider it :icon16: (well maybe if I do want an #8 also)

Good luck

@Michael, which decals do you miss? Got a spare set somewhere..

PERFECT! - I prefer the open doors option I think, the price difference is like $10.

Thanks for the information, very useful! -

the decal that was missing from my kit was the bentley name that goes on the back cowl. it gave me one but not a 2nd.... the ones i ended up using are from the other bentley from lm in 02. there smaller in size from the correct ones that i needed but they still worked out.

Hi

Good looking finish on the most beautiful Bentley. Why didn't you make the Le Mans winning car no. 7 by the way?

i figured most ppl would build the #7 being it won the race and all... i like the drivers in the #8 car better

Excellent result, and especially considering the flaws! I have heard that LMM kits need a lot of work!
