no heat on drivers side in dual climate system

have 2000 buick lesabre and 97 riviera with similar problem...no heat on drivers side. assume it could be actuator door on both. would appreciate help with location of actuator and how to replace

I hate to respond to a question with a bunch of questions; but sometimes it is necessary to get the info we need to help. Do you have a flashing display on the controller after start up? Was the battery disconnected on either vehicle recently? Do you have auto climate control (CJ2) on both vehicles?

thanks for followup. neither vehicle has had battery disconnected. there is no flashing display on auto temp controller on dash. there is heat on the passenger side which can be controlled by the dual comfort control switch on passenger doors. Everything with the system appears normal including airflow direction switching from floor to dash to defroster; there is just no heat on the driver side.

Have you verified vacuum to the programmer? If you have good vacuum going into the programmer, you may have a restriction in the manifold. This will require bypass surgery & elimination of the manifold with 1/8 in vacuum hose as shown below.

I believe the 2000 leSabre has an all electric actuator set for controling the vanes inside the box. No vacuum. There is one actuator that controls the temp blend door for the driver's side. Take off the hush panels above the driver's knees and you should be able to see actuators that do the moving of various doors. They have a white hub in the middle and as your move to different settings on the dash control, with the key on of course, you should be able to verify each actuator's hub moving to comply with the request.

I'll try to come up with a sketch for location of that particular actuator. I can't find it right now but I thought I had one on my computer.


The Riviera may be a vacuum system with two electric actuators like my earlier leSabre or it may already be an electric system like the 2000 you have. Even if the Riviera has a permutation of the Vacuum system, the driver's blend door is run by an electric actuator and the passenger is run by another electric actuator.
