96 1500 Z71! Leaf Spring Swap?

Someone told me that you could take the leaf springs off a 3/4 ton and it will bolt right up to a 1/2 ton? Is that true and would you recommend it?

All depends on why you want to swap them?
Is you old one bad?
Do you want a good ride or to carry more weight?

No the old ones aint necessarily bad. I just heard it would make the back end squat less when you haul stuff? Will it make a rough ride or something?

Heaver springs will carry more load but give a rougher ride.

A lot of people just use over load springs if hauling heaver loads.

How often and how much load/weight do you plan on hauling?

several thousand lbs of tobacco every year and then random stuff in between tobacco loads?

If your springs that is on there is good.
And.
If not over a ton a good set of over load springs ratted at a ton should do it.
Also make sure your tires will carry the extra weight.
Also some people use good air shocks for extra weight.
And some just add a extra leaf to there old springs.
If you do go 3/4 heavy springs or extra leaf you will have a rougher ride when empty.

i just went to the junkyard and while my rear end was being rebuilt, i put them on, assembled the whole thing couple of days ago, it rasied the rear end another 2 inches, my stock springs had 3 springs and 1 bottom bar, the 3/4 tons had 5 springs and a bottom bar, i like it.
