Guy’s
I have a 1999 golf GL 2.0, The car has 150,000 km’s . While driving last month I heard a loud “bang” and the car just died. The motor cut out like somebody threw a switch. I coasted over to the side of the road, turned the key off then started the car. It started and ran as if nothing had ever happened. Nothing looked out of place.
Then 4 weeks later it did the same thing, this time there was no loud bang. While driving 110km/h the car shuts down. I coast to the side of the road, restart the car and all is good.
Has anyone had a sililar problem or know what might be the issue?

I have not had this problem, but it is not normal for your engine to do this. The good thing about having on-board computers is that these episodes are stored to memory. Have your CPU scanned using Vag-Com. You will be able to locate the source of your malfunction.
