help! 94 jimmy stuck in 4low

how can i get out of this predicament?
stuck in 4 low,,,the snow is over so now i need to be back in 2wd...
but it won't go off....i've got a '94jimmy with the push button....
it hadn't been used for some time before i got it...but now i'm stuck..
a mech said to bang on the box on the drivers side of the transfer case,
but i don't know which box to bang on...i really don't have the dough to
take it to a shop....is there anything i can do?

BTW, pulled the egr and replaced gasket with one with a screen, and it's
running really good again,,,,but this 4wd issue has got me bogged down..

Are you in neutral going 2-3mpg when you try to switch out? That usually does it.
