Gas Milage

My 2006 6cyl sportage gets terrible gas milage.wahts up? anything serious I have only 43000 on it

...no specific experience with that particular model but....winter driving, 4wd, short trips only?....maybe add some more details : transmission type if relevant (...do they have both manual or auto with the v6..), type of travel , for how long do you have the car, any comparison with previous years....
