front crank oil seal

I've done some searching of this forum and wasn't able to find much on replacement of the front engine oil seal on a 98 Taurus 3.0 Vulcan with 139K. I've got a haynes manual and it seems to be fairly thorough. Is there anything I need to be aware of when doing the job. I found the leak is coming from around the crankshaft right behind the harmonic balancer and is dripping on to the exhaust. Its not bad yet, but from what I did find, it could get bad. Appreciate any advice and I'll see what I can do about documenting and photographing my work to as to help others. Thanks for all the help folks.
