how many miles at 60 mph can i drive with a timing chain that jumped and its running under its own power (missing under load). it's a 305 4bbl 700r4 with 212000 miles on the clock was a sound motor before this. yes i should have changed it at 100000 miles. but now its going to cash for clunkers. it think the car is mad at me :lol2: after 24 years 7 months of sole ownership. i am thinking i should just trailer to a block from the dealer ship and drive it in. yes it's a sad day to see her go but cash for clunkers has a $3300.00 discount off the 2010 cadillac srx that is ship and will get in about feb 22.

Are you sure its the chain? Usually when they jump, the engine will hardly run, with very little power, overheated exhaust, (manifolds glow red) and melting cat.
If it really is the timing chain, it could skip again at any time which would definitely bring the drive to a halt. Just have a cell phone and tow truck handy :)
