t-case or tranny?

I have a 97 xj with high miles. Recently when I coast from 75-60 mph, I get a consistant vibration from what seems to be the front end drive shaft. I can feel the vibration through the 4x4 selector and can sometimes damper it by pushing the selector forward.

I thought it was the drive shaft at first. I removed it and the sound was still present. Now I am thinking t-case bearings?

Any ideas?

Auto or manual? How many miles?

You might want to check your rear driveshaft Ujoints also. They'll usually go bad long before the front ones.

The U-joints in the rear are good. I put in a new drive shaft from woody's a year or so ago. Also, the jeep has about 265k on it. Now I am thinking the linkage or a spring in the t-case needs to be replaced. I will rebuild it this spring anyways, I just want to be as complete as possible.
