Diamond in the rough? Or will this one be emerald? Jade? Sapphire?

Any way you look at it, You have some of the best weathering skills I've seen.

a start on the body.
the look I'm after is the car will have its "original" paint with surface rust etc. then some spots will be primer and others will have bare metal showing. so it looks like someone is doin body work on it in the garage or something.

so heres the first steps. added a few rusted through spots. and some BMF where i want bare metal the bmf is sanded to give random look like sheet metal and also the edges of the BMF are sanded in flush with the rest of the body.

all for now my BMF sheet is all wrinkly or i would have had more done lol

Using BMF for bare metal is something I wouldn't have thought of. It should look really cool once the paint it on.

I did not realize that you used BMF for the metal look! I was staring at it trying to figure out how you got that look in the middle of the plastic!

Looking good james, the bmf reminds me of what the aircraft guys do. Chassis and motor look spot on to your reference pics. This should be a stunner, that was never finished! :thumbsup:

a little work on the body

i go the basic rust color applied. I'll add a few other shades in areas still. then i can cover it in salt and spray on the actual color of the car. which im thinking a dark green or blue.

body color on, and the deep rust showing.

next I'll add in more surface rust by stippling it on with an old brush then add pastels chalks and whatnot.
i gotta add the rest of the chrome side trim first though

it was to small to drill. i just bent them so they sit on top then superglued 'em on

That is some very convincing work, it looks like it really was left to rot.
