'98 Sunfire turn signals

Neither of my turn signals is working right. They only flash once or twice, if at all, or sometimes more. This is common to both sides. My hazard lights are working fine which would seem to eliminate the flasher. Could it be a bad switch or something more sinister? Any help would be appreciated.

The hazard and turn signal flashers are two separate pieces. I'm not 100% sure where the turn signal one is on a '98, but the older ones are clipped to a panel under the drivers side dashboard.

turn signal and hazard flashers have same p/n, and as I see it the turn signal-hazard-headlight switch is one unit.
