I am in need of one of these asap. My wifes just "de-cored" (pic if necessary). I am trying to not spend a fortune and in my searches on ebay for a used one. I stumbled on this guy.

Looks like the same but I don't want to go with something that could damage the car or just end up braking too. Any thoughts?

Cheap ones can be ok. I've had 2 cheapos on the Talon and ever had a problem with it. The first one the belts would squeak pretty much all the time, but that's small.

Don't forget you'll need new belts then too.

It just a piece of machined aluminum, kinda hard to mess that up. I would say go for it.

Are you saying the regular belts won't work or I just need to buy new ones? The ones on the car are still good I think. I will post up a pic once I get the bitch'd up one off the car. It almost completely delaminated.

Underdrive pulleys are smaller in size so you will need to get smaller belts for the car.

How do I figure out the size belt I need?

When you install the pulley run a string around the pulley the way the belt would go and then measure the string. Then go up and get one that size, make sure that you have the right width and number of grooves.

Yup. People at Autozone always look at me funny when I come with with a piece of string. Then they try to get me to tell them for what car... we play a little game and I end up walking out laughing.

Sorry, just noticed that with the auction they include the info for the right belts to buy. I'm buying it tonight so over the weekend I'm going to pull the fans out and get that some bitch out. Pics to come.

Alright, got the pulley yesterday and started pulling stuff apart today. Took about 30 minutes to get the thing out. The bolt was so tight that when I tried loosening it, the engine would rotate so I couldn't get it loose. So I took a breaker bar and pushed it against the frame and had my wife turn the engine over to get it loose. Worked perfect. Got the pulley out and as you can see, the old one is now in 2 pieces (de-lamination). Couple pics, and I'm off to get some belts.

Looks good so far. Looks like a lot of space to work in there.

PS I love the breaker bar against the frame idea. I did that to the Grand Am the first time. Works like a freakin charm. When I watched the YouTube videos of that I was kind of afraid to do it, but it's great! Sadly I forgot to do that BEFORE I started pulling everything off of the motor so had to put a lot back together just to crank it.

I was worried the motor turned the other way and my breaker bar might swing full force towards the other side of the car. That my concern but I was confident enough to say I was good to go and it worked great.

Looks like one of the belts is too big, so they had to order the right one and it will be in tomorrow morning. She's looking good so far. Looks like I am going to have to finish it up tomorrow night after work.

Good luck dude. When I put the megan underdrive pulley on my Honda I went bacl and forth to the parts store like 4 times, getting the right belts.

This shouldn't have been a problem because they included the new belt sizes but it was really confusing what I needed. The P/S and Alt. run off one belt and the A/C runs of it's own belt. Here's what they sent with it

What ones would you buy?

I bought the k050336 and the k040340, the 5 groove one is the wrong one I bought.

Looks good. I was also told when installing a UDP (lightweight aftermarket one) to unhook the battery for a little bit and let the car reset itself. This way it's supposed to see there's less of a load on the crank and adjust accordingly. That's where more more will start kicking in. Not sure how true it was, but when I first did my UDP it had a little kick after the reset.

I'll do that, thanks. Car ran great today. Took my daughter to pre k this morning and it ran like a champ. Seemed a bit peppy but it's been a while since I've driven it.

Also, the car seems to run quieter. It always seemed a bit noisy but seems good now. Wonder if that pulley was out of balance or something.

As the pulley started to come apart it may have been causing some noise. Probably has been failing for a while now
