I have a 95 explorer and lately it wont start. When I turn the key forward the fuel pump wont kick in. If I have someone turn the key forward while i tap the gas tank it while kick on. Once it starts in runs flawlessy.

So is it a bad connection?Bad fuel pump?something else?????

Thanks

Pretty typical symptoms of a bad fuel pump. Untimately it's a bad connection, but the connection is usually the worn brushes inside the pump motor, similar to tapping on a worn out starter motor to get it to work for another time or two.

I cannot answer that, but if you have the VIN number for your vehicle you should be able to get the correct pump from a parts store. Or you could just go with the universal pump and retrofit it to your existing assembly. The universal versions don't save you much money though and tend to be noisier than an OEM replacement.

Go to www.motorcraft.com and enter the VIN and search for fuel pump. It will give you the Motorcraft part number and than you can cross it over to other brands if you want.
