87 Caravan no restart after 15 minutes must wait 2 hours

87 Caravan starts instantly, runs great, just don't go into a store for 15 minutes because it will run for about 8 seconds with a miss and shut down. Then there is a 2 hour wait before it once again starts just fine.
Took it to a mechanic with 30 years experience, after working on it he handed my key back with no charge, he could not fix it.
I have replaced the fuel pump and filters, tested the preasure regulator, tested the fireing, cleaned all major and minor wireing connectors, tested the alternator and battery, checked all vacuum hoses, pcv valve, made sure no wires were rubbing anywhere and are properly routed, checked the connectors on each fuel injector, replaced the cap and rotor, the modue inside the optical distributor, temperatue senser, throtle position senser, O2 senser, automatic idle speed motor, charge air sensor,MAP senser, even instaled a new computer, cleaned the ignition switch on top of the steering collum, and still it gives fault code 26 [Peak injector current has not been reached], after the battery cable has been disconnected for at least 10 minutes.Has anyone had this problem and what did you do to fix it?

Hey Brown Mule,
I looked around and everything points to an injector, here is a touch of info that may help
"Code# 26, (injector peak current not reached). Check the resistance of the injectors. They should be 2.4 ohms each across the injector plug in. If the injectors are checked at the plenum connector, it will read 1.2 ohms for the injector pair. "
As your injectors warm up with engine heat the resistance will change, perhaps one is border line when it is cold and the additional resistance when warm drives it out of range.
Take a reading with the engine cold of each injector and then again right after the fault occurs before it can cool down again.
Keep us posted...

Have you checked fuel pressure? It should not drop significantly after shutting off the engine.

Had this exact problem with a different car turned out to be the Catalytic converter was clogged. Once it was cold it would start but after it heated up and expanded it would block the pipe.Changed the Cat and ran forever.
