K I can't remember what yr his car is. All I know its a turbo gsx I think. Anyway I want to prove a point to him. NOt saying this can hurt the car but just no reason to do this. Ok he said he blew the boost and took everything thurbo wise off the car.
Now that there is no turbo, he has the tube running from the intake with a cone on the end and left the BOV on the tube. I haven't heard the car but don't the BOV have to have some help from the turbo to even work? Plus isn't the BOV bringing dirty air into the intake?
We tried to tell this dude he is prolly going to mess the car up somehow.

Welcome to AF.
How can you "blow the boost?"
The BOV is hooked up to the intake. When you left off the gas, the engine goes all the into max vacuum and pulls the BOV open. Since there is no charged air coming from a turbo, there's no need for it. The BOV is there to stop the charged air from flowing back toward the turbo causing it to spin the other way and basically blowing up the turbo.
The BOV will not bring in dirty air as it's closed shut by default, and the only time it opens it's blowing air out.
Long story short, it's pointless to be on.

Depends on the valve. Many leak at idle and seal under boost.
