are there any companies out there that make a swap kit for the 1995-1999 eclipse to put in an evo drivetrain from the 8 and 9 the 4G63 and transmission. i have seen them i just never got any names and finding them is proving difficult

Im a little confused on what you want to do. Just bolt up an EVO tranny/awd system to the 420a or put an EVO motor in there also. Im assuming you have a nt car. No one makes anything to bolt up the EVO tranny to the 420a. No one has even done this to my knowledge. A few people have swapped in an EVO motor into a nt 2g but its really a waste of money. You would be better off buying an awd car to begin with.

wat i want to do is take an eclipse shell most likely a gsx since it is already an all wheel drive and put a complete evo drivetrain in it. the engine (4G63) and all including transmission. i dont want the chrysler engine, which only came in the gs for that gen

The motors sit differently between the EVOs and the GSX. Trans is on passengerside on the GSX, and drivers side on the EVO. You would have to redo all the mounts, sub frame and a ton more just to get the motor in. Better bet would be using a 95-99 n/t model with the 420a (which includes the RS, GS, and ESi FYI) and drop in there.

There is a post in the members section where someone has gotten the motor in and shown some things that need to get done. Been no updates on that so not sure on status.

Why not just get a GSX and build the motor instead of doing all the "swapping."

is it possible to convert a gs to a gsx, i really dont wanna pay the insurance on a turbo car. my dad has been a fully factory trained mitsubishi tech for about 16 years and has seen that the 420a is a lot worse engine than the mitsu engine they put in that gen

The 4g63 is a great motor, however the 420a is that bad. Biggest problem is that it's an open deck which can lead to problems. However, the 4g63 is built to handle a little more power from the factory.

Anywho, it takes a lot of work to convert one to the other. The frames of the car vary between the two and take a lot of modding to get them compatible. For the price that it would cost to do, it'd come out less to pay for the insurance.

No you cant make a gs AWD. If you put an EVO motor in it then I guess it would be possible but there are no trannys with an xcase that will bolt up to a 420a block.

i think some of u guys are missing my point. i dont want to use the 420a at all. i want to use a mitsubishi engine. the 420a is a chrysler engine which was also used in the dodge neon

We are all aware of the differences in these motors, the problem is that your where not clear on what you planned on doing. The 4g63 motor is a huge pain to put into a gs model. There has been 1 or 2 people that I know of have attempted this swap. Is involved customs motor mounts and custom driveshaft. I dont know if they even got the car to run with the drivetrain swap. There was a guy who put up a lot of pics in the project section.

Your posts are disjointed and generally hard to interpret.

4g63 into a 420 car? Sell the 420 car and buy a turbo DSM.
"Evo drivetrain" into a 4g63 car? Why bother?
"Evo drivetrain" into a 420 car? See the first item above.
