1999 regal door side mirror problem

drivers door mirror is dark during the day,, I am not sure how these mirrors sense when its nighttime, they darken to help with glare.. Mine is operating in nighttime mode during the day? Is there a sensor that can be replaced or do I need to replace the whole unit.
