Running Light

I installed a front running light in my '99 Ranger XLT using a relay activated by the oil pressure switch. When I turn the ignition on, it activates the relay and turns the fused running lights on. However, I also want to have running lights for the rear so others can see me from behind. Installing two red light fixtures in the rear seemed impractical so what do you think of this idea. I will use my tail lights also as running lights. Using a pair of diodes, I will run a set of wires to the rear of my truck and tap this in to the tail light wires. The diodes will prevent backfeed.
From the main light circuit + ------->| (diode)----!

From the running light circuit + ------>| diode)-----! (ground)
Will this work?

Correction! My diagram did not come out as I made it. But you can figure out the two hots going to the same element via respective diodes.

I think that will work. Give it a try.
