Hi,
I know this is a Chevy Caprice site and i do own a 1988 Caprice. I hope you don't m ind me asking a question about ny son's 2001 Sentra as I posted this same question in the Nissan section of this site but no one has replied. Here's the question I have:
I just bought a 2001 Nissan Sentra. The car has only 47,000 miles on it as it has been unused and sitting for the past 5 years. Plugs were changed along with oil and filter, air filter, and new hoses were put in. After driving the car for a few minutes the service engine light came on. We took the car to an automobile repair shop where they ran diagnostics and than to a Nissan Dealer who also ran diagnostics and both places said that they can't find anything wrong with the car. Is it possible that after driving 400 or 500 miles the light will reset? If not, I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you,
Vinnie

these vehicles have bad cat converters...very low miles they fail...also O2 sensors...
my son had a nissan maxima..bad electrical system/componets..
I would go to another dealer with the engine light on , and have the diagnostic codes pulled ...this may still be a warrantee issue . since your below 80,000mi...
if the light is on there must be a code ...

With extremely rare exception, I would concur. There should be an active or stored code.

Hi,
The failure code was P1165. It ended up being a broken wire going to the Swirl Control Valve Control Vacuum Check Switch
Thanks for all of your replies
