I found this at infiniti.com

just click on future vehicles

"A race-bred 3.5-liter V6 engine delivers outstanding performance. A sophisticated all-new rear-wheel drive platform provides superior handling. With true sport sedan performance, progressive styling, state-of-the-art technology, and a host of luxury features, the new G35 makes the cutting edge a very comfortable place indeed. The all-new G35 will be available in Spring 2002"

I just got a letter from Infiniti about the G35 and now they are saying that it is only going to have 255 hp instead of 280 and there will only be a manumatic paddle shift peace of crap instead of a six spead manual. I don't know about the rest of you but I was realy looking forward to having an Infiniti that could hang with the big boys like BMW and Merc. Now we are just going to have the I35 in two different body styles and still no manual.:( :(
I wish that Nissan would get some balls and bring over the real Skyline instead of just the chasis with the US spec v6, the least they could do is put in a manual.
Oh well, I hope they screw up the 350Z to.

Umm, dude it will be the 'real' skyline. There's more to the G35 than you think. The G35 will have nothing in common with the I35 except for the 'Infiniti' nameplate.

I expect they will offer a 5 or 6-speed manual a year or so after the introdution...something like the IS300.

Ok so I was wrong to say it was an I35, I know it's the real skyline it just makes me mad they quit putting in the turbo six and changed the design so much. I know it's going to be a great car I'm just upset they brought down the power and are not putting in the manual ( at least not yet ).:(

What a lot of people don't realize is that it IS just a normal Skyline. In Japan the Skyline is just a commuter car that comes with different engines ranging from (I believe) 4 bangers, to turbo'd 6's.

You're thinking of the Skyline GT-R which while it has the Skyline name is really considered a different car. That's one of the reasons that Nissan will now just call it the GT-R and drop the Skyline name. It's confusing I know but we still might get the GT-R one day.

If Nissan sold even the R35 Skyline GT-R in North America it would probalby be about the same price as the Viper. And we all know how many people on the forum drive Vipers. ;)

umm...infiniti never said they were putting out a manual in the first place, the only thing they ever said was that they're putting out was an auto with tiptronic...

plus this thing will most likely spank almost every 3-series bimmer and c-class benz. shoot the freaken new altima can pretty much do that already...and it has the same motor as the G35, only less hp.

and this is not an I35, thats like saying theirs 2 maximas now with two different body styles (refering to the new altima), their totally different cars and classes, they just share the same powerplants.

and nissan has balls, just look at the new altima, maxima, se-r, 350Z, I35, Q45 and QX4. they all have alot of hp compared to others in its class. shoot, just compare a Civic EX and a Sentra SE, the sentra will spank it in all categories....

Ohhh, they had better! If not they just lost a potential customer. My G will be paid off this year or early next. I was thinking about getting a G35 as a daily driver but there is no way I'll buy a crap-o-matic car.

OK, OK I'm sorry I relize the GT-R and the skyline are two different beast and I know Nissan do's have a good product line that will spank alot of the competition I just got upset over them saying one thing and delivering another. And as for the comparison with the I35, I was just saying the G will be a four door sedan with the 3.5 V6 and no manual just like the I ( I was just blowing off steam not being serious about it being the same car ).:flipa:
I did see somewhere that they are going to keep the GT-R as a seperate line, do's anyone know if the body style is going to stay the same or if it is going to look like the two door G35/Skyline?
Again I know the G35 is going to be a great car I just wish they could have kept the hp advantage over the I35 and put in a manual.
