Project Monster Notch?

I have been debating weather or not to make a project out of my 4cyl stang. I have been toying with the idea of a building 347 drag car that is street legal. Now here's my problem. Prior to owning the car it was in a front end accident, which caused slight damage to the inner fender supports. The radiator support is 100% straight, upper and lower, and the frame seems to be straight. The car doesn't seem to have been hit in the front, just in both front sides. By looking at the pictures does this seem like it will be a problem? I know I can prep, fill and fix the damaged area, but is this a wise thing to do? PLEASE, feed back on this would be excellent!

Thank you, Craig

Yeah that would be nice, but I don't see that happening. The car won't be a full on drag car, but rather a car that can run 11's and still be street legal, for them nice days. I want to retain the stock frame and front end. I was just hoping that the area I mentioned can be fixed without worrying about problems and bad looks.

I had a 86 that was hit in the right front and did a whole lot more damage than that to it and was fixed without a problam. As long as the damage is in front of the shock towers there should be no problam in fixing it

Just by looking at that it doesnt look bad.. When you start taking everything apart though you may find a different story. Thats usually what happens to me.:(

if you want a stang to run 11s and be street legal then dont call it a drag..."drags" are not street legal...

if i were you, i'd think about dropping a 351W b/c parts are easier to come by and they have a huge aftermarket...351W + poweradder(NOS/Turbo/Blower) + tranny+ slicks=:ylsuper

Actually a drag car can be street legal with the right parts and still be designated for track use. There are a lot of sanctioned racing classes that call for a car to be street legal, and have limitation set in order to participate. Also how are 351 parts easier to find then 347 parts? A 347 is a stroked 302, and the 302 is pretty damn common in the aftermarket!

I think you have gotten started on the wrong foot. If you know what a 347 is, then you would have known that there is a huge after market for a 302, same as, if not more then a 351. Which would make your statement about a bigger aftermarket for a 351 a minuet point. There are many advantages for a 347 over a 351. Space and weight issue is the biggest one, not to the mention that a 347 can put out some nice torque.

the reason i say 351W is b/c from the start i feel the 351 is a better motor over the stroked 302...

you can buy a crate 351 with 360hp...a stroked 302 would probably get you about low 300hp...ur starting off with a more powerful motor...

yes i do see your point in the weight difference, but if your going for street drag then obviously weight can become an issue...
