95 chevy tahoe no reverse need help!

hi, I have an 95 chevy tahoe 5.7 and just recently when I went to put it into reverse there was nothing there, no sounds no change in the rpm nothing...has something came disconnected or what? any help would be great...

Does the trans engage in any of the forward ranges? Does it drive and shift normally in Drive and OD ranges?

If none of the ranges operate, you may want to check the easy things such as linkage, fluid level, whether the engine is running the trans, transfer case, et cetera.

If only reverse is inoperative, there may be a problem with a shift solenoid circuit (including the main trans connector and internal harness), other valve body spool problem, lost reverse check ball (separator plate),

failing reverse apply piston,

rear planetary sprag slippage,

or other mechanical failure. The last 4L60 I had which "suddenly" lost reverse had a rear sun gear problem.

all other gears work fine just reverse is out?

I would suggest you get this checked at the transmission repair shop. no reverse in most cases is a worn transmission,,,debris is usually high in quanity as the clutches are worn when this occurs ....

what is the maintanace history mileage etc...?

No matter what this unit must come out and apart as the sunshell is the usual failure for you condition.
