Have a 94 suburban with a 350 AT has an issue when hitting the gas while driving, the amp/volt gauge dives straight to negative and then the engine backfires or pops. Replaced all the major wire connections from the battery to alt and such but still does the same thing. At idle it runs and charges beautiful. Any sugestions? Thanks Greg

When you hit the gas the engine moves and moves the electrical wires and battery cables.
You have a bad battery cable/end or wire or connection someplace.
Also check all grounds.
Also.
Wiggle and pull and push all wiring and cables.
