I have read all the "Vibration" posts but havent found my issue or my fix. Here is the symptom and what I have done so far:
The car has a hum... it is similar to when you drive with only one window open creating a vacuum type hum...konw what I mean? But it is definately a vibration.
I replaced 3 of the 4 wheel bearings. Mechanic obviously thought it was a bearing eventhough there was no constant noise.
I have been told that these AWD trucks wear out the CV joint in the front drive shaft. My mechanic removed both front and rear shafts to inspect.. CV boots were in perfect shape... not dirt or water in the joint. They looked good.
I am at a stall... Want to fix this problem to head out skiing on the weekends but the vibration occurs at 60 MPH + ... very annoying not to mention I dont want some breakdown to ruing any day trip or cause a fix that would be more expensive than it should have been.
thoughts?? Thanks!

Do you notice the vibration in the seats/body, in the steering wheel, or both? Have the tires been rotated front to rear to see if the vibration changes? Has someone closely inspected all four tires for buldges in the sidewalls or tread surfaces as well as uneven wear? A vibration with hum would suggest to me possibly a separated belt in one or more of the tires. Some tires with separated belts get so bad that they sound like what I describe is driving on wet macaroni.

Awww, come on, you know you got a good visual in you head as you read that, right? If not, here's a homework assignment for you. Pick up a bag of macaroni from your favorite grocery store. Boil it in a pot per the instructions on the package, drain the excess water. Now stir the macaroni vigorously using a plastic spoon, that's the sound of wet macaroni.
