crank pulley 2.3 1989

replacing the timing belt on a 1989 ford ranger, was pulling the pulley off with the proper puller and the pulley casting assembly broke in half, and the other half is still on the crank. Any ideas.

You tighten around the piece behind the broken pieces. The two holes are threaded use the puller you was using. Maybe a larger puller look for a loaner at the parts stores.
