Transmission won't shift

My son's 1995 Neon was a real oil leaker. We pulled engine and tranny and replaced the rear main seal on engine and front seal on transmission. success no leaks. Now have reinstalled and engine works fine, no drive from tranny. Fluid level is OK.

During install had problem with linkage alignment, would not start in Park, but would 1/2 way to reverse. Lots of clatter in reverse, but OK in drive. During testing, we locked up shifter on tranny. It got broken loose, but may have broke something else in process.

You might need to adjust your bands.
