2000 Alero, tryed many things, still dies while driving

I have a 2000 alero 2.4 Liter . I got it with about 144000 miles on it and put on 10000 more. Last week, for the 1st time, it died out while I slowing down, coming into town. I tryed to start it back up a few times, no go. Let it sit for 5 minutes and it started up fine. Thought maybe I had some bad gas and went and filled up and seemed to be fine. Next day, had it running for about an hour, I was about 5 minutes from home and it died again, this time when I was driving 55 mph. Had someone come help me out, 1st put some heat in the gas tank, ran for about 2 minutes then died. Checked my oil next, I was very low, so we got a few quarts, put it in, and car started and made it home. (I was 3 minutes away at that time, it had died like 4 times before that at 1 mile intervals pretty much) Thought maybe the low oil was the problem and it was good to go. Next night I am on my way to town again, and it dies about 6 miles into the trip. Takes me about 4 die outs or about 30 minutes before I get it home. Change the ignition control module with a used one 2 days ago, makes it about 9 miles and dies. Then we change out the fuel filter, and unplug the battery to reset the codes and whatever. and low and behold it seems to be working fine.car runs for like an hour, no problems, I drive it into town again make it about 40 minutes into my trip and it dies AGAIN. this was with my old ignition control module in. So we put the replacement used one in and it dies again after 9 minutes of driving. let it sit. starts up, get it home. Now this is where it sits cause I don't want to risk driving it anywhere any more until I try something else. Multiple people told me it sounds the ignition control module, but the used one didnt fix it. What if though, the used one was screwed up as well, and it go and try a bunch of other things it still don't fix it and it was the I.C.module all alonmg I was just unlucky enough to have 2 faulty ones. I guess I am just looking for ideas, or suggestions. I've read through the forums but I guess I'd like to try and get a fresh take on it.

= still dies.

i also cleaned out the mass air flow sensor.

Check the thread below for my experience with car stalling while driving. Short version is: check your fuel pressure, I went thru a lot of testing/replacing before I found it to be the fuel pump. It would just die intermittently. Even though I could hear pump run for a few seconds with KeyOn, it was still bad. I replaced the fuel pump, it can be done yourself, see BNaylor's procedure (sticky at top of this forum)

I had a problem with the car not wanting to start and thought it was the fuel pump...it turns out there was a security glitch [in the wiring that caused the car not to get fuel somehow. It wasn't the fuel pump at all. This is really amazing me at the different problems with the Alero. The engine is a good engine, it's just got some quirks in the electronics. I also had gauges that didn't work because they were on the same circuit as the radio. I was told by a mechanic who was too busy to work on my car to unplug the radio. Guess what? The gauges work. I found burnt wires behind the radio and wrapped them in black tape. I was told I need to replace the wires. This electronic stuff is really interesting to me.

Oh, I meant to tell the other person I commented to about the fuel filter. There is a security glitch that shuts off the fuel to the car. You have to turn on the key for 10 minutes. [The battery may die during this process and you will have to jump start it]. The car should run fine after doing that if that is your problem. If that isn't it, then I'm sorry I couldn't help.
