Draining out old gas

I have an 82 Delta 88 thats been in my shed for 10 years now. I started it up 5 years ago but it hasn't been run since. what the best way to drain the old gas out?
I tried getting a tube down thru the fill tube but it wouldn't go. taking the tank off would be a pain.
Can I disconnect the line at the fuel pump and try to syphon it out?
