Because the Porsche is finished and the Bb is on hold, I started a new project.
This Tamiya Mitsubishi GTO was the lucky one.

It's an older kit, but it looks good to me.

The original wheels looks good, but way to small. So i'll replace them for some nice big Pegasus wheels. Just to fill up the big wheelarches :D

Today I started painting the chassis in semigloss black. I used Revell Aqua Color for the first time and I really love it. It covers everything imidiately.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/primer_002_%28Medium%29~3.jpg
I also primed the body. I'll paint the body with Humbrol paint for the first time so I hope it turns out ok :D

I also mixed the color. It's Humbrol 52 Metallic Blue.

Sweet color mate!
This is gonna be good! If you didŽnt know it was a Mitsubishi it could be mistaken for an american musclecar like the new Pontiac GTO or a nineties Camaro Z28. :)
Cheers!

The Humbrol paint was terrible so I putted the painted parts in the brakefluid.
Yesterday I primed the body with Tamiya Surfacer, and today I painted the body.
I decided to paint it Opel 20R Sapphire Black Mica. This paint is automotive paint from Sikkens and I really like it. Nice to spray, and can be thinned with water.
After 1 mistcoat and 2 wetcoats I was satisfied with the result so far :)

Was the humbrol enamel paint? I typically use humbrol enamels for all my brush painting, they are great. Never tried to spray a body with them. What was the problem with the paint?
I like the wheel choice.

The problem was the paint didn't stick to the body. I thinned the paint like I always do with enamel paint from humbrol or Revell, so I did not weird at all.
The paint got fisheyes everywhere (thinks it's called like that). For this time I don't use the Humbrol paint, but I have some spare bodies where I can testspray some paint on it. I know it is possible to make great paintjobs with this paint.
Maybe you can explain how you spray this paint? I also use a product called ''Terpetine'' to thin my paint. Maybe this is not the right stuff for it?

Today I clearcoated the body with 2K. A few little dusts came in the last layers, but nothing to worry, it will be sanded and polished.

 you got that right! black on black sure does look sexy. :bigthumb:
are you doing a dark tan interior??
I think i forgot to post, but the interior was already painted before the body :)
It is Dark Grey with Blue. Both from Tamiya. I sprayed it with a larger distance for a non leather look. :-P

Looks great Kris! YouŽre becoming good at using the airbrush fast!
I really want to try 2K now, It just seems so easy to get good results with it!
What mask do you use to keep the fumes away beside that nice spraybooth you posted on SPC.
Nice colour choice as well, every bit as good as the blue.
Cheers!

In fact it is pretty easy to use 2K, but polishing is a nightmare. It becomes as hard glass so sanding takes a lot longer. But the shine is much better and the Sikkens paint I use, has some scratch protection. Small scratches will be hide by itself or something.
Last week my paintmask arrived and I used to wear this one now:
http://www.repaintsupply.com/prod_images_blowup/7192.jpg
It's the 3M 7190 paintmask with carbon filters for the bad fumes. I bought it from Ebay for about 19 euro shipped to Netherlands from USA, quite cheap.

Today I assembled the chassis. I kept it stock cause the new rims don't need any modification on the chassis.

I also got further with the body. I polished the paint and waxed it several times with different waxes.
I also painted the semigloss black parts like the area under the headlights, at the rearwindow and where the licenseplate must be glued.
The windows also got their black trims and are glued into the body.

After that I wheatered the chassis a bit, and I made some new exhaust tips from aluminium. They looks much better then the silly original exhaust tips :D
