Guys outta nowhere the other day my 85 2.4 started idling extremely high. cant get it to click down for anything. Nothing that i can see is stuck. Checked all cables ,, the float screws and all that. Im thinking its something internal? I do have 470,000 on the orginial carb? Time for a weber?

2 things come to mind have you checked the linkage for the choke
could be stuck holding throttle open
check for a large vacuum leak pcv hose may have cracked/fell off
Good Luck mike

I have a holley carb on mine, and it had the same problem when a vacuum cap cracked and fell off the back of the carb.
