How do you test a MAF? Idle problems

I put on a new CAI, now the car will not idle. All hoises are connected, nothing loose or disconnected as far as I can tell.

If I plug up the air line to the IACV it barely idles, if it free flows it wont.

I read that you can test the MAF with a volt meter, what are you looking for? Continuity? Resistance? Diode? What is a normal range etc...

I do not have an engine diagnistic system so I cannot go looking for the P0100 or P0505 codes.

Thanks in advance

Your car will idle correctly with a defective MAF sensor.
It will not rev past 2500 RPM's if the MAF is bad.

Conclusion, MAF sensor is not your problem. Go over your install again. Put the stock intake back in, make sure ALL SENSORS are connected. See how the car runs.

While your in there you should clean your throttle body. www.motorvate.ca has a great writeup for that. It takes about 5 minutes to do.

Actually, my MAF was bad and I was able to rev over 2500 rpm's. Sometimes it wouldn't go over 4k but it would stall at idle, and jerk when accelerating. At first I thought it was the knock sensor, I even pulled the code for that. However after I replaced the knock sensor, I still had the same problems. I replaced the MAF and problem was fixed.
