hey, just did front and rear pads on an '02 E350, just finding out that the parking brake is inside the disc and has its own set of shoes. looks like hell to work on. pedal goes almost to the floor, so first is there an external adjustment? i take care of about 15 cars for a non-profit and haven't picked up a haynes manual for this van yet.

On the caliper there is a plug in the back of it. When putting on rear disc brakes rotate the allen screws couinter clockwise until the caliper will fit over the rotor. The allen screw that I mention is at the rear of the disc brake caliper.Once you have backed it off to fit the pads, turn the allen screw clockwise until the pads just start to rub against the rotor. Now your're done.

thanks, dave, but i'm not sure that this applies to my situation. the parking brake is completely separate from the rear disc caliper on this vehicle, it's internal and looks to be a miniature drum brake, just wondering where to adjust the cable for it. anybody done this?

There is a small slot like on a drum brake car buried on the top on the right side and on the bottom on the left. The bottom one is easy to adjust the top one is a pain and the tire has to come off
