How would i Convert a Lx 87 into a 5.0?
Can i just drop the engine or do i need to change everything under it.
Transmission.... Rear end?......
What all do i need?

Actually Los, the stock gauge cluster can be retained, just new senders will have to be installed with the 5.0 for the oil and temp gauges.
Lurker_bob, It can be done, but it will involve some skill, time and money.
Here's a list if things that need to be changed right away, just to be able to make the car drive.
-motor
-motor mounts
-fuel lines
-wiring harnesses
-computer
Now here's a list of things that should be changed for the sake of safety and longevity.
-trans
-rearend
-all suspension components
-whole brake system
-driveshaft
-wheels
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Hmmm didn't know that. I just figured that it would be better to change em out to a 140 mph cluster.

You could swap if you wanted to, but its not needed. After all 87 and 88 stangs all had 85 mph units. 140 mph units were introduced in 89.
