stripping paint

Hi guys

the thing is simple, I F%$#&* up the paint on my tamiya supra, there are just too many wrong things with it. Is there a way to strip the whole paint and primer from the body and start from the beginning?

Brake fluid or the best choice is Isopropyl alcohol

Also oven cleaner works good.

Depends on the paint..?? Enamels=Oven Cleaner, anything else=Isopropyl Alcohol...

All paints = brale fluid

Brake fluid is a simple and effective choice. Let the body sit, and when after a while you should be able to get all the paint off by running over it with a toothbrush or something similar. Be sure to rinse it after though.

My opinion of brake fluid is that it will strip the paint but it is not the best option. Cheap it may be, but the couple of times I used it it took ages to strip the paint and made the plastic weak and brittle. Also stripped a red body shell and the colour bled out of the plastic, turning the primer pink when I re-primed. Isopropyl alcohol is much better in my opinion. No brittle plastic and a nice, easy and clean strip. Only thing it smells very strong, other than that it's fine.

Also if you put it in a container filled with alcohol to sit for a few days, remember to put the cap or top on the container. If not the alcohol will evaporate pretty quickly.

If you have the metal body minus all the plastic parts just use regular paint stripper available at all diy stores. It will strip it clean off in minutes. Just don't use it on plastic kits or you will end up with a molten blob of plastic...

Make sure you get the Isopropyl Alcohol in 91% or higher concentration. It will say so on the side of the container..

I have had issues with isopropyl alcohol, however I have been rescued by "Saclecoat II Wash Away" It removed, lacquer, primer and acrylic colors.

..so i can confirm that brake fluid does not strip lacquer paints, it didnt touch the paint at all..
