I recently had my Avalanche repaired at a dealership after a fender-bender, and I think one of my light assemblies was removed and replaced with a broken and poorly repaired one - even though it was not damaged.
I had my entire rear window removed by a different dealership (and replaced with a defective one) while under repair some years ago, and it had not been damaged, either.
As a single woman, I know that I am easy prey for this type of deception. However, as an intelligent woman, I am incensed. Unfortunately, I am not well-educated on how to go about proving this, but since this is not the first time something like this has happened, I feel I need to address it.
It would seem all parts replaced would be listed on the invoice, but I am not able to match all the part numbers with an illustration, and the descriptions of the items aren't helpful to someone whose knowledge of auto parts is very limited. If I can document each part number as it corresponds to the pieces I KNOW were damaged (by seeing pictures of the items), I can prove this part was replaced unnecessarily and without being documented. Any suggestions?

Was it a insurance repair?
If so talk to the insurance co /adjuster about it.
Hard to believe a dealership would do anything like that.
But
Do like the insurance co take pictures before and after.
Part no will not help you much.

Manufacturers and dealers will usually offer an option to have the glass and key parts etched with the vehicle's VIN. If this was done on your truck, then you might have a shot if you can prove it was removed by them.
If you had stuff that worked before the repair and doesn't work now, then it should go back to the repair shop that did the work to contest it...more reputable shops that work with insurance companies usually offer some type of warranty and GEICO in particular will guarantee the work as well (not a plug for GEICO, just paraphrasing an ad). If they don't help then go back to the insurance adjuster to see what can be done to restore it to pre-crash condition. Good luck!
