CKP sensor

The check engine light is still on in my 97 Cav 2.2. The original code was
P1336 "crank position not learned". I replaced the crank sensor and had a friend attempt to clear the code with a Tech 2 tool, but it would not clear. He suggested that perhaps the reluctor on the crank is bad. I assumed that these were a part of the crank and could not go bad. Can the reluctor be replaced? The Chevy dealer said that they are not listed seperately in the parts diagram. Is there anything else that can go bad associated with the crank sensor.
The car seems to run fine even though the light is on.
Any information will be appreciated.
thanks

Did he do the relearn procedure as well? The code will come back if not. With the tech2, powertrain->special functions->crank position variation relearn.

I wonder if you can reset the computer, and control modules?
1) disconnect the battery
2) touch the pos cable to gnd for a few seconds.
3) connect the battery

Was the orignal sensor cracked, because of age + heat?

It has to be learned, can't just reset it.

I can't speak for his, but the ones I've replaced either shorted or opened internally.

I know about the relearn, but it runs fine!

J-Ri - Thanks for the reply. I was in the passenger seat when he tried to reset it. I remember there were several sequences he went through: turn key on, wait 10 seconds, turn key off, wait 10 seconds, scroll through several different screens, start motor - P1336 code, light never even blinked. Relearn procedure? I don't believe so. I'll print this page and take the car back over tomorrow night and try again.
Thanks,
