1995 Chevy problems

Hello all. My 95 1/2 ton is having big issues. When I come to a stop the thing locks down from 5 mph or so and comes just short of sliding. When I let off the pedal it struggles to "unlock". I changed the pads and calipers this weekend and it was great the first night. Then this morning it did it again, worse than before. Ive checked brake fluid and its good. On a tip I checked the trans fluid and it was fine. Please help and thank you in advance.

It sounds as if the brake pressure is slow to release after you ease up on, or release the brake.

Does it lock up only one wheel, or both front wheels or all 4 wheels?

If it's just one wheel, you may have a bad flex line for that wheel. If it's both front wheels, you may have a bad master cylinder. Less likely is the chance you may have a crushed steel brake line.

Im not real sure if its one or two wheels that lock up. It seems as though its both. I forgot to mention master cylinder is 2 years old. Not saying it isnt possible but thats kind of early in a master cylinders life for it to go bad considering the original lasted 13 years and was changed when the rears were rebuilt. Looking at other forums it looks like I need to check out the rears. I may have a parking brake hanging up. I hate to throw a bunch of money at this old thing but its been a helluva truck for going on 16 years.

From your post I would for sure look at the rear's. Check for broken or weak springs. Check drums for out of tolerance. When this happens try this: Foot off the brake put in reverse and then right back into drive. If it unlocks then the rears would be suspect for going over center. Good luck.
