Tire Puncture

This morning I found two punctures in my rear right tires as the result of construction nails. The tire did not go flat but I'm sure that if I removed the nails, air will leak out. I drove my truck to Pep Boys but I was told that they are not allowed to repair tires with two punctures. The punctures were not in the outer threads of the tires. Is this just a company policy by Pep Boys or is there a safety standard that all tire service shops are supposed to abide by. The tire is fairly new but I landed up replacing it. Comments please?

You might beable to find a lot lizard @ Auto Zone to do it!

I never heard of this rule before.
If the punctures are very close to each other, its possible the inside patch method would not work, because the patches would overlap. But if they are more than 2 inches apart, you should be fine.

It's possible this may be a policy to prevent an attempted repair of a tire that is too badly damaged. But it probably is too conservative for most situations.... or Pep Boys may have been trying to sell you a new tire. :)
