Fuel Pump Problem

I have a 99 grand prix two door with a 3800, ive put 2 pumps in this car since august, i know that the pumps ive been buying airtex/master are trash. Is there a way to get to the pump from the back seat i thought ive seen some kind of hole in there that i could use but wasnt sure if it would open up above the pump just wanted to make sure before i go putting holes in the car.

Two fuel pumps less than 6 months!

1) What was the fuel pressure @ the rail?
2) Was the fuel filter replaced?
3) Could it be a bad or stickey fuel pump relay?
4) Are you sure, that the pump was really replaced?

yea, i put the pumps in myself. replaced the filter the first time, then a month later it went out so i didn't the second time. switched the relays around (gtp) so theres two pump relays. not sure of the pressure never checked it and now i cant.

Did you bench test the other suspected bad fuel pump?
If not a fuse, relay, or pump, it could be a bad connector, battery wire, or gnd.
Most new cars have a secret access panel through the trunk or rear seat.

well with the new fuel pump they give you this "updated" connector that has to be rewired. So both times i put the new connector in there to cover that aspect or it. I think that im just gonna go with trying through the back seat and seeing what happens

With the ignition key off, push the valve stem seal at the rail to see if there's any fuel.

Also theres a fuel pump pressure switch which disables the electric fuel pump at a certain psi, that could of gone bad.

These cars do have an access panel in the trunk, so you don't have to drop the tank.

There is no "fuel pump pressure switch" as previously mentioned, so disregard that suggestion.

If the pump is not operating at all, I would first check for power at the electrical connector before replacing yet another pump. No power could be caused by a bad fuse or relay as well as a possible broken wire.

If it's low pressure, and both replacement pumps are reading the same, I would check the fuel pressure regulator before proceeding with pump replacement.

If there is power and the FPR checks ok, then you probably just got 2 bad airtex/Master pumps, which isn't out of the question.

alright ill look into that, thanks for the input guys. Ill let you know where everything ends up. I really myself think its just junk pumps, ive heard alot of bad things about these, but at the time had no other choice of brand i needed it right away.

it was definatly the pump again, pressure is where its supposed to be with the new one. Going through the trunk is about 10 times easier than pulling the tank, wish i would have known that in the first place.
