i dont see why not... timing might be an issue, so use an adjustable cam gear

89s came out with a carburetor? I thought that was the 1g/3g...maybe I just have been out of it for way too long.

i would'nt do it. An adjustable cam gear is going to cost you half the price of a full zc motor plus i think getting the timing right is not going to be fun. with the economy the way it is right now your going to find a great deal on a motor i just got mine for half the price it was last year.
