Truck: 1997 dodge Ram 1500 4x4 ext cab 5.2L
My dilemma is lately Ive been hearing a whine coming from under the truck. Sometimes its fairly loud, and other times I can barely hear it. I thought it may have been due to the cold weather lately, but even after its been running for a while it'll still do it. It comes and goes, but I do notice that it stops while the clutch is engaged. It started doing this off and on about a week ago. Any ideas on what I should be looking for? Thanks in advance.

So it only makes this sound when you step on the clutch?

It only stops when I step on the clutch. Keep in mind that this isnt a constant whine, but it seems to be getting more frequent lately.

You might check the lubricant level in your transmission.

And don't just throw gear lube in it either until your sure of which you have, some don't take gear lube.
