Trans Gear Ratio???

Ok guys, please don't laugh at me...
I'm happy with the GTP's power as a daily driver, but I'd like to squeeze out some more horses out of my girlfriends 02 grand prix se. She's got a 3100 with a 4t65e trans. I know, I know, probably not the quickest, but I've got a powertuner, and would like to make it a little quicker than all the other GP's with 3100's. Maybe even as quick as a stock GT if at all possible.
One of the worst characteristics of that motor/tranny is the way the trans shifts IMO. It just doesnt seem to shift at the right times for the best HP.
So, with my tuner, I was hoping to be able to copy the trans tables from a DHP bin file with the same trans/gear ratio. I'm pretty sure my GTP has a different gear ratio than Natalie's 02 se. I have asked this question over on the powrtuner forums, but they dont seem to care as much as you guys.
Just was looking for direction as to what year, make, models of grand prix's would have the same gear ratio as Natalie's SE that I could possibly find a dhp bin file for to copy the trans settings from to use as a starting point. DHP is pretty much no longer a company, and a DHP 1.0 or 1.5 bin file for a grand prix with a 3100 is pretty much unheard of. So I am on my own.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am still pretty new to tuning.
Thanks!
~Tim

And I forgot to add the car is completly stock except for the addition of a performance shift knob (actually works but doesn't change any trans tables yet), and a 180 stat with tuning to support 180 degree fans.

Tim, are you referring to the final drive ratio or the ratio of each gear in the 4T65E autotransaxle? Basically all 4T65E transaxles whether the M15, MN3 or MN7 (HD) have the same internal gear ratios. What makes the final drive gearing ratio different is the amount of teeth on the internal drive sprockets and of course the chain would be a different size.

Can't you just change the shift points?

Thats right Bob, Wondering about the final gear ratio. I found a DHP bin from an 02 impala ls, looks like it has the same final drive gear ratio. Maybe I will try importing those trans settings and see if it shifts better.

It could be 3.08:1 since many GM cars have that. We have 2.93:1 for GTP, 3.29:1 for GT. I believe the 02 Impala LS should have the 3.29:1 final drive ratio. I used to have good tranny documentation but can't find it since I've updated computers.

Sounds good, I will google the crap out of it and see what I can find.

Tim. I found my ATSG 4T65E TechTran Manual. The manual covers '97 through '02. Correct 3.08:1 to read 3.05:1. According to the manual GM 3.1L V6 equipped "W" bodies (Buick, Pontiac) will have the 3.05:1 final drive ratio. 35/35 teeth on the sprockets. The GM RPO code should read F83 on the SPID label.

Copy thanks Bob!
Any idea what vehicles I could copy the DHP trans settings from that will have the same trans?
And by chance are you a computer guru? My mom's laptop is acting up. It is sort of old, but has worked good untill recently. It doesnt always boot up. I got an error about the system clock needing to be set, then it booted into WINXP splash screen and before the desktop came up it got a BSOD, and now it booted up to a black screen like dos and says something about a missing hal.dll file.

Now it booted to a similar black dos like scree that says
"Error auto-sensing primary hard disk drive 0
No Boot device available"
Sounds to me like the hard drive is shot.

The CMOS battery needs to be replaced, when the battery goes dead, it will loose all the hardware that is connected. In some laptops it is a rechargeable battery. See if you can get into the BIOS settings. If you can see if it recognizes the hard drive or see it. DONOT take it to bad buy(best buy) they are a total rip off when it comes to computer repair. To test computer memory it cost $70 per module. Also they do not repair laptops on site unless the hard drive is bad. That is the only thing that is done to the laptops, so like a CMOS battery replacement it will be sent out.
The hal.dll file is a hidden file that is used by Windows XP to communicate with your computer's hardware. Hal.dll can become damaged, corrupted or deleted for a number of reasons and is usually brought to your attention by the "missing or corrupt hal.dll" (http://www.automotiveforums.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/missinghaldll.htm) error message. If you need the web site I can post it for you.

Cool! Thanks! I had a spair cmos battery so I threw it in there. Seems good, but still wont boot because of the missing hal.dll. I gave up on it for now, but I will keep messing with it later. Thanks for the help!

No problem, If I help just one person stay away from the geek squad I have done my good deed of the day. From what I read it sounds like that reinstalling the hal.dll should not be too hard to fix. If not you might have to do a complete restore of the OS. If you don't have the recovery disks you will have to order the disks from the laptop manufacturer. Also to try to fix the missing or corrupt hal.dll file.

Geek Squad.... They are such dorks. Makes me wonder how some of them got their jobs. And the way they "fix" things.....
I have the restore disk, but I am afraid the hard drive is shot. I booted it up off a cd-r with IBM's drive fitness test to test the hard drive. I began the test and in got to about 2% and came up with an error and couldn't continue. I can't remember the specific code, but something about bad sectors.
Maybe I'll try a low level format or killdisc on it.

Is there any data that is on the drive that is needed. If there is let me know I might be able to help with that. To do a low level format you need a program to do that.

I don't think there is really anything she needs. Its just a pain in the butt to re install the OS and to have to wait for all the updates to download again...
