cold weather/snow hit recently and so did a problem with my 4x4. go figure
I can shift into 4x4 fine (manual shifter) but when I shift back in to 2hi it stays in 4x4 for anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes, than a loud clunk, then its in 2hi
4x4 also seems louder recently than it used to be, a lot of wine from the front end, but I know ive got a bad wheel bearing
any ideas?

Sounds like front axle actuator may be sticking, check it out.

after doing a search of the forum, ive noticed those have been quite the problem on the push button 4x4 systems.
But with mine being a manual shift transfer case, i didnt think i had an axle actuator

YA i have the same trucked ,Their is one thermal Actuator and one Iindicator switch you can put it in 4 whell drive and hook the purple wire to positive and the black to neg and this will make it engage fully ,This came handy when my went out and i did a quick fix. I Have electronic ploblems some where else so i use this and you have to unhook it after im done ,Also GOT OIL?
