99 MGM AirRide replaced w/ metal springs=rear end too high, now

I had to have the air suspension replaced w/ metal springs on my 99 Mercury Grand Marquis, and now the rear-end rides really high. Is there anything, short of torch-cutting the springs to a shorter length, that can be done to make her ride a little lower? Hopefully, something within the scope of a shade tree mechanics' skill level?
Somebody mentioned that there's a "kit", or something similar, that'll compress the springs but, he could give no more details than that.
Thanks, in advance

i live in boston,ma. when it snows i have to put sand bags in the trunk. I put 400 pounds of sand in back and it sinks 2-3 inches. you probably wont want to do that but just a suggestion thats cheap.

Yes. Go to autozone and get a lowering kit for rear coil springs. It consists of 2 brackets (upper and lower) and essentially 2 pieces of all thread with nuts and washers. Detaied instructions are included. Price range is around $25-$35. It's a simple install, and you can basically drop the rear end inch by inch.
