360 Modena how to do??

Hi there, I've just bought a 360 Modena from Tamiya for 20 Euros at a local Hobbyshow. I think it was a good deal. When I arrived at home I saw a little sticker on the box "metal plated body". I think it's a limeted edition. So now what should I do? I wanted to make a little tuner ferrari with aftermarket wheels and a little body kit. But now I'm not shure!? The metalplated body looks very good but you can see the molding lines. What should I do? Please help me!!!:sun:

Well, when you purchase one that has been plated it means that it has been plated with a thin film or foil or something and then it was painted. I don't know what to tell you. I probably would build it stock adding a GT wing and some wheels, and maybe lowering it a bit but that is about all you can do without taking off the finish and sanding, priming, painting. Removing the finish would be the best road to take if your going to body work to it so the finish comes out even I think. Don't take my word or it cause I am only a newbie in this game of modeling, but I thought I still would give my oppinion at my limited experience level.

Your metal plate 360 modena is tempting me............. :rolleyes:

Personally don't really like it. To a modeler is bad new but to collector, is good news since this is a limited edition kit.:D
Basically...the body is already done up for you. Do the engine and interior, that's all. Hope to see your progress pict soon. :rolleyes: :D

Could any one explain to me what is the "metal-plated feature"?? Thanks:smile: We dont need to paint the body right?:smile:

Why do you have to take off the finish. You could just prime and paint.

When you paid more for the metal plated version, you might as well show it off.

How about painting it with a clear paint to give it an anodized look to it. I would piant it clear blue.:cool:

If you are going to paint it, I would remove the plating because paint isn't going to stick to it well and you will still have the mold lines. You will find that when you remove the plating the body is clear plastic, you could polish it up and make a clear view 360, or prime and paint as usual. :smile:

Waitwaitwait, the metal plated bodies are clear plastic underneath? :eek: That definitely gives me an excuse to get one! :eek:

Yep, a friend of mine was modifying a plated 350Z when he discovered it. :tongue:

Aw man! Too bad of the metalplated cars, only the 360 has full engine detail...would make a nice companion piece to the Tamiya clear-view F-50.
