1992 S-10, shift it in 4X4 and the little 4WDH lite came on but the diagram with the wheels, stayed in 2WD and I had no 4WD, any idea what I should look for?
Thanks

If you shift into 4WD LO does the 4WD work? If not, try this: With the engine running, transfer case in 4WD, there should be manifold vacuum at the actuator and the cable should pull in. Post your results.

Does not work in Hi or Lo, I'm sorry but I don't know what a Actuator is. I will try testing as soon as I fine out. I looked for actuators, and I don't know if I even have one on my car, I don't have the buttons on dash, I have the 4WD shift on the floor.

The actuator old_master is talking about is located under the battery, you have one for sure. When you shift into 4wd(hi or lo, doesn't matter) the vacuum is applied to the actuator to lock the front differential so your front wheels engage. Usual problems are the vacuum apply solonoid, located on top of the transfer case, the vacuum lines can be damaged/kinked/corroded, or the actuator diaphram is torn/cracked and will not hold vaccuum to lock the front differential.
Like old master said, check for vacuum at the actuator, under your battery, when you shift into 4wd, there should be vacuum there, if there isn't you have to see why is not getting vacuum. If you have vacuum at the actuator, check the actuator, or the cable to the differential.
MT's refernce is a great write-up on these sytems and gives you an idea how this sytem works, worth taking a look at.
Hope this helps.

It was a vacuum line, old dried up and broken off, I didn't have any line so I started cutting a rerouting and got the 4X4 to work but I broke off a fitting on this big round ball on the passengers side inside fender, I put a screw in the hose for now. I also had a problem with the A/C http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=969349
Thanks Again Guys

Glad you fixed it. The "big round ball" is the vacuum reservoir for the 4WD and the HVAC, (Heating, Ventillation, Air Conditioning) systems, it needs to be repaired/replaced.
