Testing my TPS

OK, from what I've read about my problem (feels like missing) I think is a bad TPS. I am planning on testing it in the morning before leaving. I read about how to test it voltage wise from alldata, but I have not read about anyone actually doing this test. I've been reading here and there on the web for a while now and still everything I read says to just replace it. Is the test accurate? Is it possible it will read ok voltage wise but not work on the road? I am just trying to avoid wasting some time if I should just replace it, but then again the parts store wants 85bucks for the stupid thing. (I think that's high from what I've read) but I dont know. Anyone have any input? Any thoughts would help.
