I have a 1990 lumina with 85k on it. yesterday I was driving and it stalled and wouldnt stay running for more than 3 seconds. I let it cool down and it ran fine until it got hot again. I know its the ignition moduale. Does anyone know how to replace one of them. There's 3 and how do you know which one is bad if I were to do it myself.

There is only one module, 3 coils, the how to is at autozone.com, repair guides, register and put your car info in.

There's 3 coil packs, one ignition module mounted under them....the other likely culprit is the crank position sensor.

In the shop we used to do 'em both if the customer would go for it...they have a fairly similar service life, it seems.

If yours has the CPS on the front of the engine, make sure the wiring is not rubbing the crank pulley...
