2004 Civic LX alternator seized

The alternator belt burns. I cannot get to the alternator from below, and the AC compressor is in the way above it. I am hoping to loosen the compressor and move it out of the way, without a lot of work, liking draining and later recharging the AC system. Can you please give a set of steps to remove and replace the alternator?

The directions in the manual are a single page, they mention taking the power steering pump loose (without pulling the lines loose) then remove alternator.

If you want the info PM with an e-mail address and I can send the pdf.

Thank you for the info. I really lucked out. After taking off the belt, the alternator turned freely, so I replaced the belt and it all is ok now, even the alternator. Maybe ice kicked up from below, maybe with a rock, and they got lodged somehow. So the belt fried and the alternator wasn't involved at all. Maybe this will help somebody in the future. Thanks again.
