Hello. I have tried searching but the only thing I found regarding my topic is some 6g72 engine have the adjustable cps on the head. And some have the non-adjustable ones on the other side bolted to the head with a special cam gear. As well as the ckps. my cousins engine took a dump the other day and he bought another engine for it. A jdm 6g72 from tigerjapanese. His engine has the cps ans ckps."Cam and crank position senors" on the belt side bolted to the block with special cam gear and crank gear. Both are 3 wire senors. The one he ordered has the cps on the head on the tranny side with a 4 wire sensor and I didn't see a ckps. My question is how can I make this engine work in his car. The jdm engine has no holes/place to put the other style cps and ckps. Is there anyone that has came across this problem ? Wat can be done to where he can be driving his car again. Thanks for any and all help.

Ok I found out that that box on the older engine houses both the cam and crankshaft sensors. . I also found out how to wire them up from the old harness. But also found out that using a newer ecu with the older style sensors would advance the timing . So anyone ever done this before? Does it advance it enough to drive " he don't ever run his car over the speed limit" or would he need a 91-92 ecu to match the sensors? Will the older ecu fit his harness? Thanks again for all and any help.

It doesn't necessarily advance the timing, its the latency that is slightly different. THe ECU sees the signals exactly the same, other than the latency. It will not be an issue for your cousin. Do the conversion method and you will be good to go.
